TRIACCESS TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES THE FIRST FTTH RFIC AMPLIFIER COMBINING GAIN CONTROL, POWER DETECTION AND MULTI-STAGE HIGH GAIN AMPLIFICATION IN A SINGLE PART

SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA - February 25, 2008 - TriAccess Technologies, a leading provider of CATV and FTTH (Fiber-To-The-Home) radio frequency integrated circuits (RFIC) for amplifying high quality multimedia content, today announced the industry's first FTTH RFIC in-home amplifier solution that fully integrates automatic gain control (AGC), temperature compensated power detection and multi-stage high gain amplification.

The new product, called the TAT 6280, is the first single-part solution designed to meet stringent GPON rollout criteria calling for a wide AGC range with very low noise. According to TriAccess Technologies President/CTO Chris Day, "By integrating gain control and power detection, TriAccess brings simplicity of design and increased functionality to new levels. With the TAT 6280, TriAccess Technologies merges the industry leading performance of its original TAT6254C with key AGC functions into a single highly integrated device."

Even with the higher level of integration, the TAT6280 provides designers with the flexibility to reach emerging requirements, such as sub-1 Watt power consumption. The TAT6280 includes the ability to receive low -8dBm optical power input with an output of more than 24dBmV RF power without the need for a secondary external post amplifier. The TAT6280 is 5mm x 5mm, facilitating smaller design layouts in transceiver and ONT designs.

The TAT 6280 is the first integrated chip designed to meet both Telco and CATV requirements out to 1GHz. "Providers of Radio Frequency over Glass (RFoG) FTTH networks are finding that a broader optical input range helps facilitate rollouts, and that higher RF output is required to support multiple splits in the home," said Brian Bauer, Vice President of Marketing for TriAccess Technologies. "With the addition of the TAT6280, TriAccess Technologies now has two TAT6200 series parts and 20 customers in its FTTH business."
